This technical shell features a gore tex 3l membrane to keep you dry and to control your temperature on the uphill downhill and everywhere in between. It is also cumbersome and stiff. The marmot spire has a snow skirt which is a real bonus if you are battling to a summit in the snow. I put it to the test and went for a winter hike after a snowstorm and it provided warmth and it definitely was water wind proof.

I am very excited to get outside and put it to use. It is made from 3 layer gore tex but it s not the pro version. My spire jacket just arrived today and wouldn t you know it we re going through a warm dry period in the middle of december.
