Since i am a very resourceful machinist by trade i figured that i could try this.
Making a gold ring from scratch.
A ring from scratch.
If i were to propose to my cur.
Removing scratches from gold rings.
Apply equal parts soap and warm water to a damp washcloth.
Scrub the gold band with the soapy washcloth to remove surface impurities.
In an 8 ounce cup combine 1 part ammonia with 6 parts warm water.
Learning how to make rings is easy and opens up endless possibilities for personalization.
Do not attempt to clean a gold band with ammonia only.
These rings are just for fun.
Start with simple ring bands or stacking rings you can make by simply combining silver wire with basic metalsmithing and texturing tools likes hammers and files.
My inspiration for this project came to me when i visited the cartier exhibit at the denver art museum.
Rinse the band in cold water and let it air dry.
